Situation
Established in 1974, Ancast is a family-owned manufacturing company located in the west-end industrial park in Winnipeg, Man. A second-generation organization, Ancast manufactures cores, mouldings and castings and is dedicated to high-quality products and customer service.
Problem
At Ancast, calculating payroll was literally
a ‘dirty’ job. An old-fashioned time clock was
situated in a very dusty location of the foundry. Even the
timecards were covered in a layer of dust, making it a messy
job to go through them to calculate employee hours. It was
even more frustrating when, due to constant dust and grime,
the time clock wouldn’t work and hours were simply written
on the cards. It also took a lot of time to transfer information
from the cards to a spreadsheet and then into the payroll
system. A cleaner, more effective and efficient system was
needed.

employees, both full-time and part-time, on constantly changing
schedules.
Problem
In the past, a staff person spent most of her time going
through manual time sheets, calculating hours by comparing schedules to
actual time worked, then tediously entering the totals into the payroll
system. Dimark's payroll processing team and management team were
desperate for a way of processing their payroll more quickly,
efficiently and accurately.

Situation
Park
Theatre and Movie Café, located on South Osborne Street in Winnipeg’s
picturesque Riverview community, is a privately-owned, multi-purpose
venue that offers a specialty coffee boutique, movie rentals and a
theatre that is host to independent movie screenings, CD release
parties, live acts and is available for private function bookings.
With
a full complement of 10 part-time staff members, Erick Casselman,
part-owner of Park Theatre, has been an IBEX iPayrollHR customer since
August 2005 and in the spring of 2007 Erick upgraded to iPayrollHR/iSchedule Edition.
Problem
Previous
to Erick becoming an iSchedule user, he found that getting ready to
submit his payroll for processing was “chaotic” and was a task he had
difficulty fitting into his schedule with the myriad other
responsibilities as part-owner of a small business. He often had
inaccurate reporting of hours which, understandably, frustrated his
employees; was guessing the number of hours to report for each employee
because he had no formal way of tracking that information; and had no
way of budgeting his payroll accurately.
